Dear Parents, Students, and Well-Wishers,
A heartfelt welcome to all of you on the official website of Shri Parsmal Bohra College for the Visually Impaired.
The Netraheen Vikas Sansthan (Institute for the Welfare of the Visually Impaired) was established in the year 1977 with just two visually impaired children in an old temple building in Jodhpur. At that time, we had no material resources—only an unwavering resolve that these children too deserve access to quality education, good accommodation, nutrition, vocational training, and opportunities to integrate into mainstream society so they may lead a life of self-reliance and dignity.
Today, that very resolve and spirit of service has taken the shape of eight institutions, where 1,247 students are currently enrolled. This journey is not just inspiring but also a living testimony to our commitment to society.
Over time, what began as a humble effort has grown into a wide-reaching movement. Today, the Sansthan runs seven residential and educational units for visually impaired, hearing impaired, and intellectually disabled children, which include:
Netraheen Higher Secondary School
N.V.S. Residential College (for higher education and competitive exams)
Acharya Hasti Special School for the Hearing Impaired
Pragyachakshu Upper Primary School (Phalodi)
Mahaveer School for the Hearing Impaired (Siriyari, Pali)
Gurukripa Home for the Intellectually Disabled (Jodhpur)
Ajay Leela College for Special Education Teachers, (Chokha, Jodhpur)
Shri Parsmal Bohra College for the Visually Impaired, Chokha, Jodhpur
Over the years, we observed that after completing 12th grade, our visually impaired students were forced to go to other colleges for higher education, where there were no special educators, accessible study material, or transportation facilities. There was no independent college for the visually impaired in all of Rajasthan.
To resolve these issues, I made a special appeal to the then Chief Minister, Mr. Ashok Gehlot, requesting the establishment of a separate college for visually impaired students in the state. He not only welcomed the idea but also announced its inclusion in the 2022 budget. As a result, on 1st August 2022, the Shri Parsmal Bohra College for the Visually Impaired was inaugurated. It is Rajasthan’s first independent college for the visually impaired, where all facilities—education, accommodation, food, transportation—are provided completely free of cost.
This college is not just a center of education but a beacon of hope, offering every visually impaired student the light of self-respect and independence.
With your continued support, affection, and valuable suggestions, this effort can become even more meaningful. Let us come together to brighten the lives of these special children.

In line with this vision, we are thrilled to announce the construction of our new college building—a state-of-the-art, inclusive space designed to support and elevate the educational journey of our students. This new chapter marks not just expansion, but a deeper promise to our mission of empowerment and excellence.

- As Rabindranath Tagore said, the highest education is that which does not merely give us information but makes our life in harmony with all existence. I believe in development of core values and an environment of teaching and learning at the college. Upholding the highest standards, this is the education of tomorrow, in an environment of academic freedom where minds meet, discover, and learn.
- The college came into existence with the vision of creating a safe and supportive environment for visually impaired students, providing a perfect balance of academics, sports, artistic and social opportunities. Our college is committed to the development of emotional growth along with the intellectual excellence of our students. This empowers them to develop their self-esteem, self-awareness, and self-confidence.
- Our faculty employs a variety of teaching methods, including tactile learning tools. An Audio Learning Mechanism is adopted in the college, where all the classes are recorded. These recordings are provided to the students in the form of a pen drive or through WhatsApp. The culture of co-curricular activities is consistently promoted in the college, including extempore, singing competitions, debates, etc. Sports activities involve outdoor games like cricket, which is played weekly by the students, and indoor games like carrom, chess, ludo, etc.
- We promote the diversity of Indian culture in the minds of students by celebrating all the festivals and showcasing their performances. Students participate in several competitions conducted by different organizations, and we are proud to say that they win most of them. Our team strives to motivate and support them in their progress at each step of their life.
Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities!
